Community college path

    Transfer students

Wayne State University (WSU) welcomes community college students to join our accredited engineering and computer science undergraduate programs. To ensure a smooth transition, it’s important that students complete the required courses. We strongly encourage students to consult with both their community college advisors and the College of Engineering advisors before enrolling. This ensures their courses will transfer seamlessly towards a WSU degree.

    Course transfers and evaluations

    WSU simplifies course transfers through:

If a course isn’t listed on the equivalencies page, it must be evaluated by the Transfer Student Success Center before WSU will accept it for credit.

    Engineering Technology Division (ET)

The Engineering Technology Division (ET) is one of eight departments within WSU’s College of Engineering. ET has established Articulation Agreements with various community colleges. These agreements streamline the transfer process by allowing students to transfer between 60–90 credits from their community college coursework. By maximizing transferable credits, these agreements allow many students to complete their bachelor’s degree in as little as one to two years after transferring to WSU.

ET offers six specialized degree programs that are available through articulation agreements:

    • Computer Technology
    • Construction Management
    • Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology
    • Electromechanical Engineering Technology
    • Mechanical Engineering Technology
    • Welding and Metallurgical Engineering Technology

    Scholarships for transfer students

WSU offers scholarships for transfer students who have graduated from high school and earned credits at another institution. To qualify:

    • Submit your FAFSA before the deadline.

    Application process

When applying to WSU’s undergraduate programs, specify the College of Engineering program you intend to join. The Community College Transfer website provides:
