The rich variety within our student community is one of Wayne State University's greatest strengths. We are committed to ensuring that every student not only has access to opportunities but is also recognized as a standout candidate and a valued future employee. We believe that an organization thrives when opportunities are open to everyone, diverse perspectives are actively sought, and decision-making incorporates these perspectives. We help students build confidence in embracing and valuing their unique qualities, and we require employers to adhere to the National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) Principles for Professional Practice, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidelines, and Wayne State University's standards.
As an engineering student, one of the most important things you will do is find an internship and/or a job. Most employers are seeking candidates that have some sort of experience, even for entry-level positions. The most straight-forward way to gain experience is through internship or co-op, but could also include hands-on activities in school. With such a strong emphasis on hands-on learning experiences, it is important to know how to find the best opportunities. The Engineering Career Resource Center can help you discover what resources are available to help you find an internship or a job.
