Caisheng Wang named IEEE Fellow for advancements in sustainable energy systems

Caisheng Wang, Ph.D., professor of electrical and computer engineering at Wayne State University, has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the organization’s highest membership distinction — less than 0.1% of IEEE's voting members are elevated to Fellow status annually. Wang was recognized for his “contributions to modeling and control of distributed alternative energy systems and battery storage management.”

As director of Wayne State’s Electric, Connected and Autonomous Technologies for Mobility (eCAT) Center, supported by the National Science Foundation’s IUCRC program, Wang has advanced renewable energy systems, distributed generation and energy storage technologies. His innovative work has shaped the future of hybrid energy systems and battery storage, enhancing the reliability and sustainability of energy solutions.

Wang’s research has received more than $9 million in funding as a principal investigator and a total of $18 million in collaborative grants. With over 230 publications, four patents and more than 14,600 citations, his contributions are globally recognized.

"It is an incredible honor to be named an IEEE Fellow," said Wang. "This recognition reflects the collective efforts of my research team and the support from Wayne State University to advance sustainable energy solutions."

Wang’s election to IEEE Fellow follows his 2024 induction into Wayne State’s Academy of Scholars, highlighting his exceptional academic and research achievements.
